Inspired by the short story “the third bank of the river” by the writer João Guimarães Rosa, the work addresses the issues of belonging and absence. In the story, a family man seen as trustworthy decides all of the blue to build a canoe and leave behind his daily existence and starts to lead a solitary life, rowing up and down a river that runs nearby his home, all being witnessed by the family. It is from this allegory that the poetic rereading takes place.
Using raw wood as a medium, The third bank is a metaphor of the human soul and its character: primitive and rude, yet possible to be carved by the flow of the waters.
